【摘要】:Thispracticecanbeusedtoseparateuraniumorplutonium,orboth,priortotheimpurityanalysisbyvarioustechniques.TheremovalofuraniumandplutoniumpriortoquantificationcanimprovethedetectionlimitsbyminimizingthesignalsuppressioncausedbyuraniumorplutoniumwhenusingICPtechniques.Detectionlimitsof~1x2013;10part-per-billion(PPB)maybeobtainablebymatrixremoval.Also,removaloftheuraniumandplutoniummayallowtheimpuritiesanalysistobeperformedonanon-gloveboxenclosedinstrument.Othertestmethodsexisttodetermineimpuritiesinuraniumorplutonium.TestMethodC1517isabletodeterminemanyimpuritiesinuraniumatdetectionlevelsof~1x2013;10part-per-million(ppm)byDC-ArcSpectrometry.TestMethodC1287isabletodetermineimpuritiesinuraniumatdetectionlevelsof~100ppbbyICP-MS.TestMethodC1432providesanalternativetechniquetoremoveplutoniumbyionexchangepriortoanalysisoftheimpuritiesbyICP-AES.Thispracticecanbeusedtodemonstratecompliancewithnuclearfuelspecifications,forexample,SpecificationsC753,C757,C776,C787,C788,andC996.1.1Thispracticecoversinstructionsforusinganextractionchromatographycolumnmethodfortheremovalofplutoniumoruranium,orboth,fromliquidordigestedoxidesormetalspriortoimpuritymeasurements.Quantificationofimpuritiescanbemadebytechniquessuchasinductivelycoupledplasmamassspectrometry(ICP-MS),inductivelycoupledplasmaatomicemissionspectrometry(ICP-AES)oratomicabsorptionspectrometry(AAS.)Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
